Vessels 06:02
Load up the hold We're setting out today One hundred strong Let's keep it that way Do well to pray That we might safely reach the bay Spend nights looking at the stars May this vessel take us far Load up the wagons We're setting out today Got no time to argue The trail calls for haste With sails on a bright green sea Where no man has been before Out where it's empty and stark May this vessel take us far Load up the cargo The people have boarded Soon we take to the skies In routes humans have plotted With great metal wings It's hard to tell 'em apart The nervous ones are thinking May this vessel take us far Load up the shuttle The launch is today They'll leave this planet behind Yeah they're on their way To the place we see every night With infinite lights, shining bright Spend nights in the stars May this vessel take us far

As I sit quietly on this bench Watching people ducking in And out of buildings to stay dry All their umbrellas opened wide Don’t they know there is no need I know this so I pay no heed They’ve lived entire lives inside Helmets, now hair’s hard to find As I sit quietly on this bench Watching people blinking at The blinding sun unhidden by Dissolved clouds opened wide Don’t they know there is no need I know this so I pay no heed They’ve lived entire lives inside Helmets, now hair’s hard to find

Oh can you feel it in the air Halloween spirit everywhere Golden broken leaves drift down Making a crisp crackle sound Pumpkins dot the corner plots Some are spooky some are not At night chills shoot down my spine It's just the season I know I'm fine Oh it's getting cooler in the streets We've left behind the August heat It draws the undead from their graves Stuck in place they smile and wave Witch cackles break through the sky They want candy, so do I To build a stash of sweet and sour We have at most a few hours Yeah we got a few hours So many costumes what a sight, All building up to this night! One by one the lights turn off And doorbell rings begin to stop The ancient mummy is unwrapped His killing friend loses the mask The vampire pulls out his fangs While others wrestle with the pangs Of stomach aches and stomach cramps Worth pounding all the sweets they can

Compass 02:18
(Chorus) Keep your needle straight Master your own fate Keep your compass tuned So it knows how best to help you (Chorus x2)
6.
Alley of Tin 02:00
(Chorus) Sing me a song, from an era past Gentle and kind, it could never last Leading the sales, the music with class In an alley of tin pans, where hits were amassed Everyday Johnny would be home by two And pull out sheet music with his favorite tunes Hundreds of thousands they all did the same Back when the style enjoyed its heyday (Chorus x2) In an alley of tin pans, where hits were amassed In an alley of tin pans, where hits were amassed

Senseless 01:40
As the expression goes Rock and hard place woes Just like they say Ask and it can be arranged (Chorus) You’ve got me caught Trapped and stuck Ready for round two? I'm ready for round two It never ends Beaten again and again Pummeled into the ground Senses gone, I am unwound (Chorus) I need a breather I need a breather Can’t catch my breath Left runnin’ to the bitter end The bitter end of an ugly race No winner, no second place Just dead last on the podium Hallelujah, god damn it all (Chorus x2)

10.
Unsuitable 03:28
Would you care for a dance Before the end of the world Would you take that chance with me We could sway back and forth To our own steady beat Make it whatever you want it to be (Chorus) Maybe it doesn't suit you Maybe it just won't work Maybe if we jump ship now We can still make it to the shore Has anyone ever told That you're unsuitable Not made for these times Has anyone ever shown you It's inhospitable When you start making that climb I'm not sure they ever thought you'd go I don't think they wanted you to know (Chorus repeat until end)

Deep in a submerged crystal cave He wears his airtight suit The vessel descends tying his stomach in knots God he doesn’t know what to do A store clerk stares off into the distance A raven passes by in the night Spirits are low, the fan’s humming goes On and off, as she watches the time The pressure mounts as wax melts down The children all quickly trick or treat For candy that is so sour and sweet Or the sticky kind that gets stuck in your teeth (Chorus) Take a risk Cause even if you miss You’ll come out the other side Feeling a little more alive Under one roof the scientist toils Trying to figure out how it ticks Electronic brains in a helmet of steel Whir to life, that compass did the trick And on a planet we can’t comprehend Two moons are soon to collide One unlucky kid kept out of the loop Boards a freshly sprouted rocket to survive (Chorus) A fuzzy beast opens it’s maw As the truck driver inspects a leak He looks up and swerves narrowly avoiding A crash that renders species extinct Windshield wipers clear away the splat Of the bug that connected them all Stories of sparks from crisp evil robots Patched together this story’s slithering vast sprawl (Chorus x2)

about

These songs were all written and originally recorded during my Songtober project in October of 2021. The plan was to take a healthy mix of songs from those sessions, polish them, and release them as a proper album shortly afterwards. After several delays, the plan changed to within the end of the year. So here I am on the last day, cutting it as close as can be!

Not many parts were re-recorded for this album, I wanted to leave most the recordings intact and just focus on giving them proper production so they would be more listenable (the only total re-record was for the title track). Some vocals and guitar/bass parts were also added here and there. Not all the songs I hoped to revisit made the cut, but I do plan to revisit them in the future, so look out for that.
